Treatment Specialist
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Treatment Specialist performs those tasks that are commensurate with assisting residents in accomplishing goals and objectives as set forth by the program. He/she also participates in activities planned by the agency to meet standards set for residential institutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Assists residents in departure from school during school year and supervise corridors for residents returning from school.
Check resident’s room daily for cleanliness and orderliness and collect and distribute coiled linens when scheduled and ensure the cleanliness of the building.
Appropriate recording and reviewing of daily logs.
Must work any scheduled shift as assigned by the program management.
Review and tally point’s sheets. Attend and prepare behavior reports for weekly team meetings.
Record unusual behavior of residents on appropriate form and submit form to supervisor and implement goal-oriented behavior for residents.
Assemble youth for meal preparation and supervisor meals and clean up.
Assist in-group supervision of recreational and athletic activities, transport to and supervise residents in off campus activities.
Attend all staff training sessions and staff meetings.
Supervise residents during study hour and check homework assignments during school year as needed.
Complete trip tickets for agency vehicles as needed.
Address and supervise resident’s personal needs to include medical, hygiene.
Transport resident for emergency medical care when necessary.
Supervise and monitor on an hourly basis and awaken residents at appropriate time.
Provide supervision and accountability for all residents throughout the course of a shift and cover shift until properly relieved.
Secure all common areas.
Utilize communicators to provide unit checks.
Act as a resident advocate.
Co-facilitate group therapy with the Social Worker.
Transport residents in personal vehicle when necessary.
Work with an assigned social worker and group.
Attend mandatory weekly team meetings.
Punch time clock daily upon arrival and departure.
File and complete missing person reports.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Address and supervise medical needs as well as the issuance of medication in the absence of the Medical Liaison.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENT
Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.
Person must demonstrate the ability to effectively provide appropriate direct supervision for acting out problem behavior adolescent males.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lifting, bending and walking.
Restraining residents.
Speaking English as a primary language.
Driving a 15 (fifteen) passenger van.
Social Worker
The Social Worker is responsible for the overall facilitating of social worker services. Duties include: writing initial treatment plans, updated service plans, discharge summaries, court reports and case notes on the JAIS system. In addition, conducting individual, group and family therapy sessions, attending court hearings and transporting youth to appointments.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENT
Master degree in Social Worker required, LMSW preferred
Valid State of Michigan Driver License, free of restrictions and points required
Prior experience on the JAIS system
Good communication and computer skills
Experience in conducting individual and group therapy
Experience in working with delinquent, at-risk, adolescent males in a residential setting
Program Manager
The Program Manager is responsible to supervise, conduct and direct the program with the responsibility for safety and care of the residents. The Program Manager works closely under the supervision of the Group Life Coordinator in planning and carrying out the treatment milieu developed for the group living situation. Essential duties include: to inform staff of any difficulty that may occur during the shift, to assign group areas of responsibility to line staff for shifts, to record events in the daily log of the program and to consult with the social workers and fellow staff members concerning the youth.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma accepted, Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
Valid State of Michigan Drivers License free of restrictions and points
Prior experience in working with at-risk youth
Skill in management of line staff and in assisting delinquent adolescent males in their development
At least three years experience in working in a residential setting
